Plug Into Nature Camp Counselor

Counselor Responsibilities:

Six to eight counselors will be chosen after applications have been reviewed and personal interviews have been conducted. The PIN Camp Counselors will:

  • Help lead campers in nature hikes, outdoor games, arts and crafts as well as various other outdoor activities.

  • Each counselor will have a group to guide during camp and will work closely with adult directors and volunteers.

  • Each counselor will be expected to arrive at camp at 8am each day for a morning meeting.

  • Counselors will work together and remain until 5:00 PM or until all camp supplies and activities are cleaned up and the next day’s activities are prepared.

  • Transportation to and from camp is required (preferably able to drive self).

  • A stipend will be given upon the completion of weekly camp duties.

  • Counselors are expected to maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment for all campers at all times. They should demonstrate leadership by serving as positive role models for both campers and junior counselors, consistently modeling appropriate behavior, communication, and decision-making.

  • Counselors are expected to remain on site and actively engaged in their responsibilities until all campers in their care have been picked up and all assigned duties for the day have been fully completed. Leaving early without prior approval may result in a reduction of the stipend.

  • Counselors are expected to remain through the full duration of the camp week, including Friday evening, until all camp areas, materials, and supplies have been properly cleaned, organized, and stored. Early departure without approval may result in a reduction of the stipend.

  • Counselors are expected to maintain a safe, respectful, and drug-free environment at all times while participating in camp activities or present on camp property. The possession, use, or distribution of illegal substances, alcohol, or drug paraphernalia is strictly prohibited. Counselors must not be under the influence of any such substances during camp hours or while responsible for campers.

  • Any violation of these expectations may result in immediate dismissal from the counselor position and/or a reduction of the stipend. Counselors are also expected to report any concerns related to prohibited items or unsafe behavior to camp leadership promptly.
